In case you're wondering, I've been doing fine. I know I haven't posted in a while.

I've been taking some summer classes with the hopes of speeding up my transfer process. It didn't exactly go as planned, seeing as I have to repeat my Math class in this session. But I'm pretty confident that I'll pass. I'm only taking one class during this session, so I'll have the rest of the day to work in case I find a job.

I'm also excited about the Fall Semester coming up. I'll probably be either News Editor or Sports Editor of my school's paper. Both positions are going to be a challenge but I'm ready for them. I'll also be part of the design and production team, so I'll be meeting with my Editor-In-Chief so we can go over plans for the paper and also I can be shown how to opperate the design software.

Also, as part of an expirement for my school's paper I'm writing a sports blog. Since it's the summer and not much is going on with the school's athletic teams, it'll mainly focus on proffessional sports. Once the Fall Semester starts, it'll be strictly about the athletics that are happening at my campus.
Visit it at nomanspressbox.com. Leave a comment or something.

Peace Ya'll!

Life's Journey In A Nutshell

I can totally relate. I'm sure that after reading this, then you will be able to also......

Autobiography in Five Short Chapters by Portia Nelson

Chapter I.
I walk down the street.
There's a deep hole in the sidewalk.
I fall in.
I am lost...I am helpless;
it isn't my fault.
It takes forever to find a way out.

Chapter II.
I walk down the same street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
I pretend I don't see it.
I fall in again.
I can't believe I am in the same place;
but it isn't my fault.
It still takes a long time to get out.

Chapter III.
I walk down the same street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
I see it is there.
I still fall in....it's a habit.
My eyes are open.
I know where I am.
It is my fault.
I get out immediately.

Chapter IV.
I walk down the same street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
I walk around it.

Chapter V.
I walk down a different street.

Currently Listening
In Between
By Jazzanova

Things are going quite well for me. As you all know, this past semester was my first writing for the student paper at my school. Last night the school hosted it's annual Media Awards Night, where all of the media arts (television, radio, print journalism) come together and hand out awards. I recieved an award for "Rookie Of The Semester", which didn't come as a surprise to me, because I definitley put in a lot of work!!

However, my surprise(s) would come later. This past year was the school's 50th anniversary. In celebration, the newspaper put together a reunion ceremony inviting everyone who at one point or another has worked for the newspaper in the school's existence. A scholarship fund was also set up. Initially there were two categories; a scholarship for writing and another for design, $250 each.

The scholarship application included; five samples of your work, transcripts, a 250-word essay about your career goals, and two letters of recomendation from teachers or employers. Even though everyone on staff knew who was going to win, we were all encouraged to apply anyway.

So the two scholarships went to the two people who everyone knew would get it. However, our instructor announced that there would be another $200 scholarship awarded. When he called my name, I was so shocked! I had no idea I'd get it. It had to be God! I was wondering how I would pay for school in the fall; I was stressing out about finding a job during the summer. I had applied to a job that I knew for sure that I would be hired at. For some reason I didn't get it; that's because God has something better for me. I know it!

On Wendsday, I along with three other staff members, auditioned to be Editor-In-Chief of the paper in the Fall. One of those being the present EIC. The winner was announced on yesterday and I was very happy for them! Anyway, after the ceremony was over, one of the judges pulled me to the side and told me that the person who won, did so by default. All of the judges voted for me unanimously! He told me if I would have had another semester of experience with the paper, the EIC title would have been mine. He also said that  EIC position for the Spring '07 semester is mine to lose! Seems so far away....but I know it's going to come quicker than expected.

I auditioned for the position just for the experience, so I could be prepared for it the next time I have my heart set on winning the position. To actually win it is something that I did not expect. But I know that the Fall 06 semester is going to be a great one! I  know that I will play a major part in making it so.

I just feel so blessed, because I while I was feeling discouraged. I had been struggling with some things and I had been feeling like I had let God down. I just thank God for blessing me, because this has given me even more motivation to keep going down the right path. I can't mess up now, after all that God's done for me so far and all that God's going to do! It took a while to get on the right path, but I'm on it now and I won't stray....I can't stray!! Pray for my strength and direction! Peace!

I was checking my e-mail today on yahoo.com when I saw a link to a story. It said that the rapper Proof from D12 (Eminem's goofy sidekicks, in case you didn't know) was shot to death earlier today outside of a club in Detroit. I've heard some of D12's songs, but I was never a fan. Here's a link to an article.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060411/ap_en_mu/rapper_killed;_ylt=AshINEjcGBu29dvwZs4asuxxFb8C;_ylu=X3oDMTA5aHJvMDdwBHNlYwN5bmNhdA--

What's erie about this is, Eminem came out with a video ,about a year or two ago, with a video in where one of his group members gets shot, and Eminem and members of his group are seen in a hospital room watching him die. Eminem's message, or point of the song, is that he's hoping that all of the rivalries he's had with other rappers ends before it gets to the point that someone gets killed. Here's a link to the video.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qeoD3cFJnwk&search=eminem%3B%20like%20toy%20soldiers

It reminds me of the video that came out right after Tupac was killed, his "I Ain't Mad At 'Cha" video came out, in which it showed him being shot. Then there's Biggie releasing an album entitiled "Life After Death" and him dying the same year it was released. Could these all be coincidences? Maybe, but I find it hard to believe.

I think most of these guys had a preminition that they were going to live a short life. It just goes to show that our words do have power. It's like the bible says, "Death and life are in the power of the tounge, and those who love it will eat it's fruit."......I'm just paraphrasing.

I wonder what happened as to how he was shot to death. I rememeber watching the show "Beef" and it was showing how he was involved in some altercation with some other Detroit rapper. I can't remember his name now. But I know that beef was squashed, so I'm wondering what was the story, if there was one, as to how it happened. Anyway, I wish his family and friends condolences and I hope that he had his soul right with God before he died.

Random Questions, Thoughts, Statements, Ramblings and so on.....

1. If you've been watching college basketball latley, then I know you've been seing some
exciting games. How about those UCLA Bruins huh?
My boy Arron Afflalo (from my
present-day living town of Compton! Represent!) makin' shots! To be honest I didn't
think they'd get this far. The game against Gonzaga wasn't lookin' so good. I thought the
season was over man. But they stated to play defense. Whoever said defense wins
games was so on point! I didn't watch the game they played against Memphis today,
but I'm glad they won! I thought Duke was gonna make it, but I don't know what
happened. UCLA, UConn, LSU and Villanova.....that's a pretty good Final Four! My
predictions are UCLA and UConn in the championship game with UCLA coming out on
    top!
2. Twix is my favorite candy in the whole world. Now they've gone and made White
Chocolate Twix! I've gotten a chance to taste it, and it is heaven on earth! They say it's a
limited edition, so I guess I 've gotta eat 'em up while they last, lol!

3. Next week, I'll be going to a state confrence/competition with a few staff members.
There will be representatives from over 50 junior colleges accross California meeting in
L.A. for worksops and also competitions. I and our Editor-in-Chief will be representing
our school and entering the sports writing competition. I'm pretty excited about it. I hope
to place or to get an honorable mention, but even if I don't win, it's still good to go for
the experience. But I do want to win, and I will be competing to win. Wish me luck!
Also, here's an updated link to the stories that I've written so far this semester. I've been
putting in a lot of work, if I may say so myself, lol! Check them out and let me know what
    you think of them!
